A Thirst in the Living Water...

I would like to give a testimonial of the Sept. 8-9, 2012 retreat at St. Francis Retreat Center in San Juan Bautista.

Thanks be to God for all who gave of themselves to make the retreat possible and a success. At the retreat, we listened to the Daughters of Carmel, Fr. Vito , Yanli and all the singers and musicians. With faith and in the presence of the Lord, much was visible and palpable not so much through our eyes and our hands, but through our hearts. Each speaker spoke clearly the message of "Encountering God's love in the Holy Spirit".

Coming to us from Indonesia, the Daughters of Carmel are mastering the challenge of the English language with the gifts of knowledge and humility. At the retreat, they effectively communicated their understanding and wisdom of our beautiful Catholic faith. They continue to be visible at St. Cecilia Church in San Francisco in their modest, humble, joyful way, spreading the Word, even without words. Fr. Vito spoke with a free flow of the Word from his heart to ours. Yanli's words of guidance were inspiring, as she shared experiences and ways to make our journey together.

Many of us attend a retreat with "a thirst for the living water". At this retreat, it is not easy to explain the "quenching" of our thirst, maybe because of its depth. It is not like a typical drink of H2O. Our thirst was quenched as we joined together with each other in communion through Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Reconciliation, charismatic blessings and songs of praise. The testimonials and conversations at the end of the retreat pointed to a common bond of peace and joy with God's love throughout the retreat. Thank you for a wonderful retreat. All praise and glory be to God.

With the love of Jesus Christ,

Desta
