I Love her more...

Here is my experience of the last retreat at Camp Hamilton, WA, February 15 - 17, 2013.

Ever since we first heard about the retreats offered by Daughters of Carmel, we have always wanted to go. We were scared, though, as my beloved wife, Farida, was undergoing chemotherapy for her lymphoma and thus we would need to go to hospital right away if her temperature reaches 38°C or more. Because of the treatment, her antibody count was low, so it was easy for her to get an infection. Our friends, Prisca and Andry, have promised to help Farida and encouraged us to attend. Then, we heard that all three Daughters of Carmel sisters were sick – what if it spreads to Farida? Furthermore, just before we left for Camp Hamilton, our hot water tank was broken. Despite everything, we decided to go anyway. The retreat started on February 15 while Farida’s last chemo was on February 5th, only 10 days prior. With this in mind, we asked for God's help and we depended on Him fully.

The retreat was two nights and three days with each day having a full schedule starting from 7 in the morning until 10 at night. The Seattle team helped us with almost everything. Denny, Katrina, Louis, Jessica and all of their friends worked very hard to make this retreat happened. We would sleep at midnight and wake up by 6 am the next day. Farida could not sleep on the first night, Aswita, who has been without seizure for more than 5 years, was tired but looked happy. And there was no sign of fever. Thank God!

On Sunday, Feb 17, 2013, the third day of the retreat, during the Baptism of the Spirit, I heard God's voice, He said: "I love Farida more than you do!" Suddenly, I cried and tears kept falling from my eyes. How wonderful God is! I felt God's blessing and fell on my knees, "Lord Jesus, how merciful and amazing you are. You never let me down, Even though I am a sinner, You always help me, Farida, and Aswita" Until now I remember this special moment. This Voice is my joy and my consolation. He makes me feel at peace and very secure. Every time I recall His voice, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Thank You, thank You, Lord Jesus! How good and wonderful You are!

Love,
Petrus
